Serie A1 2026/27 Italian Floorball League: Matchdays 3 and 4

Two games, two losses, and zero points taken home. The weekend of October 10th and 11th, 2026, wasn't exactly kind to Spartak Floorball Milano in the Italian Serie A1 League, as they faced the reigning champions, FC Dragons, and Geas Sesto. But this time, the Blue-and-Whites walked off the court with more answers than questions. On top of their usual huge heart, they showed they can stand toe-to-toe with anyone, thanks to an increasingly solid defense and lightning-fast counterattacks.

On Saturday in Carnago, the guys pushed the reigning Italian champs all the way through the first two periods, even jumping out to an early 2-0 lead before fading late in an undeserved 7-2 loss. On Sunday at Palacarzaniga in Sesto San Giovanni came a tougher pill to swallow after a much tighter battle: Geas pulled off a 5-4 win, getting their revenge after a loss just a few weeks back—when Captain Luigi Zinni sealed the win for Milano in overtime with a stunning golden goal. A tough weekend for Spartak overall: lots of good signs, but some heavy costs for losing focus at key moments.

FC Dragons – Spartak Milano 7-2

Playing in the familiar setting of the Carnago arena, Spartak Milano took on the current Italian titleholders, FC Dragons - one of the league’s heavyweight teams.

Knowing how strong their opponents were, Milano opted for a patient, tactical approach: stay tight in defense, close down space, and hit on the break. No long spells of ball possession or trying to go toe-to-toe against a team that’s so well-equipped both physically and technically. The goal was simple: absorb the Dragons' pressure and make the most of quick transitions.

And man, did that strategy pay off in the first period! The Dragons controlled the pace and held onto the ball for long stretches, but they struggled to find the back of the net—mostly thanks to a monumental performance by Fabio Sicchiero. Game after game, the Blue-and-White goalkeeper continues to prove he’s a true rock for the team, right alongside player-coach Davide Brambilla. And it was Spartak’s 14 himself who caught the Dragons sleeping twice on the break: with two fast sprints, "Brembol" owned the opening period, putting Spartak up by two. At the first horn, it was 2-0 to Milano!

In the second period, though, the champs stepped on the gas. The Dragons ramped up the tempo, pressed hard, and managed to level things up at 2-2. Spartak kept digging deep in defense, but that early lead had evaporated. Still, the game remained on a knife-edge, and there was a genuine feeling they could head into the third period with everything still to play for.

Then came the final period, and the Dragons finally found the clinical edge they’d been missing, slotting in five unanswered goals. Spartak, hit by a string of penalties that left them short-handed for long stretches, lost their cool and couldn't contain the pressure anymore.

The final score of 7-2 felt overly harsh for what was actually shown on the court. Against the reigning champions, Spartak made life tough for two full periods—even while dealing with heavy absences like Captain Zinni and goal-machine Davide Fornari. The goal for the upcoming games will be keeping that same grit right until the final buzzer.

MVP Spartak: Fabio Sicchiero, whose brilliant display kept the team alive and in the fight for as long as possible.

Geas Sesto – Spartak Milano 5-4

On Sunday, October 11th, at Palacarzaniga, Spartak was back on the court to take on Geas in a match that smelled like payback for the home side. The two teams had met just a few weeks earlier in a thriller that ended with Milano winning in OT thanks to Luigi Zinni’s clutch golden goal—a victory as hard-fought as it was sweet. This time around, though, the home crowd got the happy ending.

Geas tried to set the tone early, leaning on the speed and skill of their young, fearless squad. Spartak struggled to build rhythm on attack and had to work overtime just to keep Geas at bay.

It was a battle from start to finish. The first period ended 2-2, with Geas picking up six penalties. In the second, Geas settled down, scored twice, and tried to take control of the game. But Spartak stayed in striking distance, mostly thanks to the hot stick of—you guessed it—Davide "Brembol" Brambilla.

A hat-trick for Brembol, but it’s not quite enough

Just like on Saturday against the Dragons, the weight of the Blue-and-White attack fell squarely on 14's shoulders. Davide Brambilla netted a hat-trick, scoring three beautiful goals from mid-to-long range that kept Spartak hanging on by their fingernails. Unfortunately, individual brilliance wasn't quite enough to grab the win this time. Unlike their last matchup, Geas managed to hold onto their lead and close out a 5-4 victory, snatching three huge points for the standings—climbing to 4th place and leaving Milano temporarily in 2nd-to-last.

A sweet redemption for the Sesto squad; for Spartak, a lingering sense of regret for not being able to repeat their past success.

Once again, Spartak goalie Fabio Sicchiero was named MVP, making it a double personal triumph after taking the award on Saturday as well!

Two new debuts in Milano’s ranks

Among the weekend’s silver linings were two official debuts in the Serie A1 Italian League: Luigi Lavermicocca—a true "Highlander" of Italian floorball—and Samuel Curiel, a youngster from Serenissima, both wore the Spartak jersey for the very first time.

Two fresh faces in a roster looking to find new balance in an increasingly competitive Serie A1. Bringing new players into the mix is a great chance to expand tactical options and handle the challenges ahead.

Spartak Milano: Looking for consistency to bounce back

The weekend breakdown is clear: two losses, six goals scored, and twelve conceded. But numbers never tell the full story.

Against the Dragons, Spartak proved that Coach Brembol’s new game plan—more patient, focused on rapid counterattacks and composed possession in the back—can rattle even seasoned teams like the reigning champions. What was missing was the stamina to resist when the opposition turned up the pressure.

Against Geas, it was a much more balanced, open game decided by a few key moments and the home team's ability to hold their lead to the end.

The takeaway remains the same: in the Italian Serie A1 Floorball League, a good start just isn't enough. You need focus, discipline, and consistency for all 60 minutes.

For the upcoming games, the priority will be working on how to break high-pressing defenses—improving breakouts and giving defenders clear, reliable passing options. The team moved well overall this weekend, but staying even tighter in both attack and defense will be key.

Spartak’s next fixture is scheduled for October 31st in South Tyrol, with one clear mission: break the losing streak and get back on the scoreboard.

A big good luck goes out as well to the Spartak Under-13 team, who will make their season debut on Sunday, October 25th in Sesto San Giovanni!

The season is still young for the Blue-and-White colors. It’s time to roll up our sleeves and get back to work!
